Aftercare

The first month
decides the next decade.

I can put the best work of my life on you and poor healing will still undo it. Follow this and your piece will hold its contrast for years.

Day 0

The day I tattoo you

You leave wrapped. Leave the covering on for as long as I tell you on the day, because that first few hours is when it is most open.

Do

  • Keep the wrap on exactly as long as I said
  • Eat properly and drink water before and after
  • Sleep on clean sheets you do not mind marking

Do not

  • Do not go out drinking on it
  • Do not let anyone touch it
  • Do not peel the wrap early to show someone
When to message me

Infection is rare. Do not guess anyway.

Almost everything that worries people in week one is completely normal. These four are not. If you see any of them, message me a photo the same day and speak to a pharmacist or your GP.

  • Heat coming off it, or redness spreading outwards after day three
  • Yellow or green discharge, or a smell
  • A raised rash or small bumps across the whole piece
  • Feeling genuinely unwell, or running a temperature

Healed black and grey forearm piece

Touch ups are part of the job.

Some skin takes ink differently and the odd patch drops out while healing. On my own work that gets sorted. Give it six weeks to settle first, then send me a photo.
